Founded by patriarch Gordon T. Burke in 1946, "Gordon T. Burke Inc." was one of the first General Contractors in the Mount Washington Valley. He began working on septic systems and hauling aggregate until he expanded the business to large commercial projects. A handful of the projects he undertook include working on the summit of Mount Washington and building Schools, Motels, Dams, and also the original lodges at Loon Mountain-top and bottom.

In 1977 Gordon's sons, Tom and Curt, worked into the business and by 1978, the business became "Gordon T. Burke & Sons, Inc." They started with minor projects and 6-8 employees. After just a few productive years they expanded to building several multi-million dollar Schools and Commercial (NH & ME) projects, then employing up to 100 people.

One of Tom and Curt's proudest business endeavors has been the 30 year relationship they have established with the United Parcel Service (UPS). Some of the projects they have worked together in accomplishing have been high-priority multi-million dollar design/build projects. The job specifications of these developments had extremely short turnarounds and were done while also not interfering with daily operations. Because of their ability to complete the demands of these challenges on deadline and with the highest quality result- the relationship has continued together with the completion of dozens of projects from Calais, Maine to Newark, New Jersey.

Currently Gordon T. Burke & Sons, Inc. is truly that-Tom Sr. and his son Tom Jr. and Curt with his son Jeff-now a respected third generation business. Tom Sr. and Curt are still hands-on in the business with its daily activities. Tom Jr. and Jeff have been working for the business for over 10 years gaining the valuable experience from their fathers and are looking to continue a long and successful future.
